Hello, I'm Morgan Houghton

A Structural Medicine Specialist living on Tiger Mountain in the beautiful Issaquah Alps just outside of Seattle, Washington

  • What I Do

    Structural Medicine

Structural Medicine is a customized evaluation, treatment and collaborative approach to an individual’s unique health issues.

Primarily the treatment involves manual therapy, helping to bring back into balance elements of your physical structure that are now causing discomfort. This can have the added benefit of improving the balance of your emotional and mental health.

Structural Medicine is a method of treatment that appreciates you as a whole person.

  • How I work

    Professional + Results Driven

Successful treatment has many forms and I’m committed to listening to you and your body to create a treatment plan that works for you.

Structural Medicine utilizes myofascial length testing to track progress over time. I will test your range of motion and fascial length at the beginning of every session as relevant. I will then perform manual therapy for the majority of our time together. Finally, at the end of session, I will re-test your range of motion and fascial length to track our progress.

    YOU

YOU (the client) are my priority.

PRESENCE – I will hold space for you. I will be fully present during our session and I will be intentional in all that I say and do.

ATTUNEMENT – I will non-judgmentally SEE you. I will meet you where you are.

RESONANCE – I am committed to collaborating with you to do what is best for your body. If we need to change course, I will do so fluidly.

TRUST – I am committed to building trust with you. We are both equally a part of each session, and I will consistently show up in all ways for you during and outside of sessions.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the Seattle area of the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, I was a child who thrived on adventures of all kinds: mountaineering, sailing, hiking, and many different sports. In high school, I practiced Western sword-based martial arts, self-defense, and dance. When I was growing up, my mother was a Physical Therapist and Hellerwork Structural Integrator, which made me intimately familiar with structural manual therapy and its benefits.

My professional movement career began in college with performative mythology in an aerial-based circus arts company and dancing with the Seattle Opera. After college, I toured the world with Pilobolus Dance Theater performing in 27 countries over 4 years to millions of people.

During all of these physically demanding practices I have had to continually refine and adapt my self-care. I have learned how much effort it takes to stay strong, flexible and resilient. Most importantly however was learning just how incredibly far I could push my body and mind. Through it all I was thrilled to experience how our emotions and sense of being are built into our bodies, and how this interplays with our cognitive thinking.

After my dance career, I went back to school for Structural Medicine. I studied at the Institute of Structural Medicine, based in Seattle, WA and Twisp, WA for 4 years. Throughout that time, I worked hands-on with individuals as part of my studies. I officially kicked off my business, Lifelines Structural Medicine, in the Fall of 2019, and have been seeing clients in the greater Seattle region ever since. The bodywork I received in my youth and the movement experiences in my dance career gave me a unique perspective to develop my skill as a touch-based therapist.

I have the most perfect little girl and infant son and I am discovering just how much my heart can expand as I watch them grow with fascination and wonder! I have the most caring wife who is also my best friend, and a loyal dog-companion who I love spending time with. And for the last two years, I have found a passion for gardening at my home in the Issaquah Alps.
